Grit Grinding Your Gears? Make a Gasket

If you’re having trouble with dirt and debris getting under your car or truck’s gear cover, make a gasket to seal it against the motor plate. It’s easy…

Remove the gear cover and trace its outline onto a piece of craft foam to get the right shape for the gasket.

Cut the foam on the inside of the line so it will fit under the gear cover, then remove the foam from inside the shape to make a gasket. Test-fit to make sure the motor plate fits properly, then glue the gasket to the plate with rubber cement (which can be easily removed later).
