MIP invented the original and much-copied CVD design, which has equipped the cars and trucks of countless national and world champions. MIP’s most recent addition to the CVD design is their “Pucks” concept, which addresses the wear inherent in the dogbone/drive cup interface. Instead of steel-on-steel contact with a bare crosspin riding in the outdrive’s slot, the crosspin is padded by plastic “Pucks.” The Pucks reduce friction and prevent outdrive wear, and are easily replaced to maintain factory-new tolerances and performance. Pretty sweet. MIP offers the Pucks system with a wide variety of its CVD kits. The latest is pictured here, developed specifically for Team Associated SC10, SC10.2, and T4.2 models. Since the Pucks require a wider drive slot than a bare crosspin, the kit includes a complete ball differential with the required wide-slot outdrives.
