Test Bench: Racers Edge SC RaceCase In Team Associated Trim

Test Bench: Racers Edge SC RaceCase In Team Associated Trim

When short course trucks exploded on the scene a few years ago, there were very few options available to transport these new vehicles. Racers wanted a way to carry their truck to and from the truck plus not dirty up their real ride in the process. Racers Edge helped to solve this problem with their SC RaceCase transport bag. Not only did this bag store your short course truck but you could also pack it full of extras that are needed for a day at the track or at your favorite bash spot. And to make things even more convenient they now offer some optional drawers. Let’s take a closer look.

Here you can see the Team Associated graphics plus a short course truck icon.

The first thing that you will notice about this bag is the blue and black trim along with the familiar Team Associated logos. Racers Edge offers two variations of this bag, one with a Racers Edge red and black scheme, and this one in a Team Association trim. The bags are the same, but this gives folks another option when choosing the bag of their choice.

The SC RaceCase is almost 29” long and was designed to hold an entire 1/10 short course truck with the wheels on. But due to its size you can also transport other 1/10 off-road vehicles, a 1/8 sized short course truck, comp and scale crawlers, heck even a 1/8 buggy with the wing and tires still on! A mid-deck is also included and this gives you the ability to also transport two on-road touring cars, even the larger 200mm variety.  But this mid-deck also provides you more storage possibilities when you use it together with Racers Edge’s optional drawers. These plastic drawers have an integrated handle on one side, and they can be stored above and below the mid-deck to act like drawers. So if you end up selling your short course truck down the road you can pick up a few of these drawers and turn you bag into an ultimate gear hauler. To access the internal storage compartment area the SC RaceCase has an opening on each side.

Here you can see how the storage compartment is large enough to hold a radio.

A flat insert is included and acts like a wall so you can build a storage area for your radio, tires, etc. The other opening is then used to access the internal storage compartment.

Also included is flat insert with seven loops on it. You use these loops to store your nut drivers and hex wrenches so you can bring needed tools with you. Each door has the “loop” from hook-and-loop fastener tape, and on the back of the tool loop insert is the “hook” side. This allows you to fasten the tool insert to the door of your choice and it is also removable so you can have your tools on your work bench and within reach.

The pockets are large enough to hold two mounted short course tries.

Two large external storage pockets are on the front side of the bag. These pockets are very secure since you have to first lift up a hook-and-loop fastener flap and then move a zipper to get inside.

The pockets are large enough to hold battery packs too.

The pockets are big enough to hold a few LiPo packs or even some short course tires.

On the back you can roll-up and store your pit mat.

Flip the bag around to the back and you see two straps that are used to secure a pit mat. These straps are adjustable and you could even choose to store other items here light a drop cord.  There are two different grips you can use to carry the bag or if you want to go “hands free” you can use the adjustable should strap.

For this review I decided not to use the optional drawers since I want to use this to transport my short course truck. The SC RaceCase ships flat so the first thing I had to so was to assemble it.  After that I decided on which end I wanted to use as the main opening. Once I did that I went to the opposite end to install the flat insert. This pocket was big enough for my radio and I decided to the stick the loop insert on the opposite side since I did want my radio to come into contact with my wrenches when I moved the bag around. I wanted to bring a few tire options with me when I went to the track, and since the SC RaceCase will store a short course truck with the tries installed I was able to tuck another two sets inside the main storage compartment. I also left a LiPo pack installed in the truck and placed a second pack in one of the outside pockets. I used the other pocket for parts and other miscellaneous items that I thought I would need. I rolled up my pit mat and also attached my drop cord to the back, and after that I was ready to hit the track. The bag did become quite heavy after I packed it so full of items, but in testing it held up to the weight and the shoulder strap made it easy to carry around.

In conclusion the SC RaceCase is a great option for not only short course truck owners, but for anyone who needs a storage solution for their 1/10 vehicles or 1/8 buggy. It offers a lot of versatility and storage options, plus it gives you some flexibility with the optional drawers in case you change vehicles down the road.
