Boutique manufacturers and aftermarket factories in the RC industry come and go, with many fueled by the combination of a passion for the hobby and a bit of entrepreneurial spirit. Earning serious staying power in such a competitive industry, however, requires more than just a desire to enjoy what you do – your products have to be innovative, they must perform well, and they need to be marketed properly in order to make an impact. e time, eff ort, and costs of designing, manufacturing, and distributing quality RC products are all much greater than most realize, and the business world can be unforgiving. For every handful of companies that didn’t last, however, are the memorable success stories that have defi ned the history of RC; after all, even the biggest industry players had to start somewhere – with a dream. Producing RC cars was a dream for video game designer-turned Tekno RC founder Daniel Lewis, with whom we sat down to talk about Tekno’s upcoming SCT410 4×4 short course truck; he gushed about his new favorite toy before he explained how he plans on keeping the company around for a long, long time.
