Traxxas’ Pro Circuit Riders Tough Supercross Season Opener

The 2013 Monster Energy Supercross season kicked off this past Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. Traxxas’ Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki fielded a three-man team consisting of Blake Baggett, Tyla Rattray, and Martin Davalos in the first of nine rounds of the 250SX West championship.

Martin Davalos – Highs and Lows

Davalos, 250SX class veteran and the newest addition to the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team, came out swinging in his heat race by pulling an early lead and taking the win by over two seconds. He wasn’t as fortunate in the main, however, as he got caught up in a first-turn crash. The crash caused too much damage to his bike, which plagued his ability to continue the race. His speed and skills remain a force to be reckoned with, and he is looking forward to getting the chance to put them on full display as the series heads to Phoenix this weekend.

Tyla Rattray – A Good Start

Rattray is taking it one step at a time after suffering from an injury last year that cut his Supercross season short. He started the night off by finishing fifth in his heat race. In the main, he avoided a first-turn pileup and kept it steady for the remainder of the race to finish eighth.

Blake Baggett – Toughing It Out

Baggett has been considered a 250SX title contender since before the 2013 season started. He was looking to make a successful comeback at Anaheim after sustaining a wrist injury at the Monster Energy Cup last October that removed him from the competition. After months of preparation and training, he arrived in Anaheim with the hopes of getting one step closer to his first 250SX championship. He finished fifth in his heat race, and was looking to improve in the main. He almost pulled the holeshot in the main, but was then caught up in a first-turn crash. Baggett managed to keep the bike on two wheels, but another rider’s bike slammed into his arm. Despite the pain, he knew he had to salvage valuable championship points so he toughed it out and finished every lap. He crossed the finish line in 14th.

As always, Traxxas brought its exciting radio controlled stunt demonstrations to wow the fans in the pit party AND on the gnarly Anaheim track. The Traxxas E-Revo Brushless Edition was easily clearing the big double and was nearly able to land the triple! Fans got to interact with the pro RC drivers and the Traxxas Girls in the Pit Party. And two lucky fans won Traxxas Slash radio controlled short course truck to take home with them!

Up Next – Phoenix SX – Traxxas and the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will now make its way to the second round of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series, which will be held this Saturday at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
