RCCA at Byron Fuels World Challenge – Leisure Hours Raceway – Saturday Evening

Track action continues to roll here in Illinois at the Byron Fuels World Challenge!  Current fast guys are:  GT – Mark Borchert, 1:10 Touring Car – D.J. Apolaro, 1:8 Onroad – Paolo Morganti.

This race is a contingency race, which means if you’re running Byron fuel, and do well…you get paid!  Pretty sweet…  Pretty cool that the Leisure Hours crew went thru all the work to move the metal fence farther away from the back straight.  This will definitely nicer for the pit guys when starting the mains tomorrow.  They’ll have a place escape after launching cars for the starts.

Also, things will start a bit earlier tomorrow, hoping to avoid the wicked reflection off the track surface in the later evening.  The drivers stand faces west, and the setting sun blasts a wicked glare directly off the fastest part of the track.  Dangerous for sure.  Starting the action at 8:30 AM will help avoid this tomorrow.

About the author

I've been into R/C since I was 12 years old when I was able to save up enough for a used Tamiya Fast Attack Vehicle; I've been hooked ever since. Currently, my garage is filled with electric & nitro airplanes, electric & nitro trucks and buggies, and even some boats…but my true passion is racing onroad. Maybe it's my background in karting combined with the competitive spirit of mountain biking, but I really enjoy the balance of tuning and precision driving that makes for close racing.
