RCCA at Byron Fuels World Challenge – Leisure Hours Raceway – Saturday

Jun 23, 2012 No Comments by

Saturday morning here at the track, and the place is hopping.  The race surface is in perfect condition, and fast laps are going down.  There are three full heats of GT, three for 1:10 touring car, and three for 1:8 onroad.

Morning began with 10 minute controlled practice sessions, followed by a drivers meeting.  Big props to Marc and Ryan from Byron Fuel for helping make this event happening, and for making it out to the track and being part of the action.

Today will host three rounds of qualifying.  Somewhat unique to this event, each qualifier is 10 minutes long.  It’s nearly possible to make a 10 minute run at this track on only one tank, so pit stops become part of qualifying, which is pretty cool.  Also, qualifying format uses the ‘Qual Points’ format, using the best two runs.

Great racing action for sure!

About the author

I've been into R/C since I was 12 years old when I was able to save up enough for a used Tamiya Fast Attack Vehicle; I've been hooked ever since. Currently, my garage is filled with electric & nitro airplanes, electric & nitro trucks and buggies, and even some boats…but my true passion is racing onroad. Maybe it's my background in karting combined with the competitive spirit of mountain biking, but I really enjoy the balance of tuning and precision driving that makes for close racing.
