IFMAR 1/10 Pre-Worlds Race–Racing Report with John Cary: May 23, 2011

The big news on the block is the 1/10 Worlds Warm up over in Vaasa Finland. Just about a week ago, Facebook was blowing up with racers showing off freshened up 1/10-scale rigs all prepped and ready to go for the Worlds Warm up. Most of which weren’t exactly looking forward to the long haul to Finland, let alone the daylight that seems to be endless, or maybe is was just the Americans that were complaining. Anyways, on Sunday, TLR’s Darren Bloomfield from the UK managed to keep Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri and Kyosho’s Jared Tebo at bay while piloting his new 22 buggy. But from a manufactures stand point Team Associated had four of the top ten spots, leaving Kyosho and TLR to battle it out for second, followed by Tamiya and Durango tired for third. On the 4wd side of things, Tamiya’s Lee Martin from the UK came out guns blazing and certainly letting everyone know how bad he wanted to win. In A1 he lost to fellow country men and Team Associated driver Neil Cragg, but from then on it was the Lee Martin show. Though Neil managed to get 2nd overall and after a very rocky start Ryan Cavalieri managed to snag the 3rd place overall postion. Fourth went to Durango’s Jorn Neumann and finishing off the top five is Kyosho’s Jared Tebo. Guess he decided to show up and make a presence, Joseph Quagraine from JQ Products. Yes, we all know him from the 1/8th scale world for producing the car but he also managed to throw down a 1/10th 4wd buggy and finish 7th overall.
