RC Car Action - RC Cars & Trucks | Race Report: This Week in Racing May 9th, 2011

This past weekend there plenty of races taking place but none of which featured many of the top drivers, at least here in the states. I’m sure many of you know that the Monster Energy Supercross finals took place in Vegas this past saturday and many of the top RC drivers were on scene to either work as support for their respected companies or simply there to enjoy the main event. Up in the Pacific Northwest Team JConcepts driver Justin Wilde locked in both Mod truck(RC10T4.1) and Mod SC(SC10FT) at the Northwest Championship Tour in Wenatchee, WA. What’s also a great accomplishment is the fact that Justin ran four classes and managed to get qualifying positions in each class as well as TQ’d Mod SC.

Out in here in SoCal there is a series that has been taking place now for over 8 years, it’s the JBRL(Jimmy Babcock Racing League). This year, the JBRL is stretching out its legs and reaching out to new tracks that are either new facilities or the series has never been to before. Round three of the electric series, was held at Palm Desert Raceway in Palm Desert, Ca. There were over 180 entries and the temperature was getting into the high 90’s. Not bad for a one day race. Proline Drivers Jonny Wachter (1st in points) and Brian McDuffie (3rd in points) took home the wins in Pro 2 Short Course and Expert Stock Buggy. Round Four is coming up on June 18th at Racers Haven in Bakersfield, Ca. Round Three of the Nitro series is June 11th at Milestone R/C Park in Riverside, Ca.

On the other side of the pond, Mugen Seiki Driver Robert Batlle fresh off his 2nd place finish at Neo11 kept the momentum going at the season opener at the Spanish National Championships. This is the fourth year the Robert has won the season opener. The race was held on Spain’s south coast in Almeria. A bit north, Team Losi’s Darren Bloomfield locked in a victory at Round 2 of the BRCA Nationals in Coventry. Much like Batlle, Bloomfield was at the NEo11 race were he nabbed a 4th place at the prestigious event.
