does anyone seriously buy this stuff from Redcat?

Have you guys ever reviewed any Redcat vehicles? Specifically the Backdraft 8e? It looks like a crazy cheap way to get into an 1/8th scale setup, and even if some of the plastic parts break there are some aluminum hubs and things available. I see it’s plenty fast, but curious about the handling etc. etc.

I’m always interested in getting an underdog vehicle and surprising people with what it is capable of, lol. Would love to keep up, or beat my buddies losi with a $270 setup…

Is this vehicle comparable to an Associated SC10?

I race the Hurricane XTR, Monsoon XTR, Hurricane XTE, I can say that some models of Redcat are for 10 year olds but the higher dollar models like the XTR-XTE are very capable STOCK! Racing T-A, Losi, Thunder Tigers The XTR is right in the mix. Very quick and Durable. I will put it up against any other stock car and surprise you. The only upgrade I would suggest right out of the box is an OFNA Battery pack for the servos in the XTR. I thought the steering was slow and/or weak until I replaced the stock battery unit. After that turning was a snap and throttle response was instant. We are currently seting up a 3 truck team using the Caldera SC10E as our platforms at our local indoor raceway over the winter.
I believe the platform can and will be very competive for racers up to the intermediate ranks.

Caldera sc 10…..I’m an Old school RC racer and these trucks are fun for the price and I rocked mine in yard and street . I believe u can be very competitive out of the box at any track. Slipper clutch would be nice but no provisions for such a unit. Go Matt.. u still the man. Paul C. Xtreme r/c
