Team Losi Racing 1/8 8IGHT 2.0 4WD Buggy Kit

Feb 07, 2011 17 Comments by

The 1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 4WD Buggy Kit features over thirty revisions and improvements to the revolutionary 8IGHT buggy chassis. The 8IGHT 2.0 Buggy proved to be the fastest buggy in qualifying by taking Top Qualifying honors at the 2008 IFMAR 1/8 Buggy World Championships.

The chassis on the 8IGHT 2.0 has been extended an additional 2mm to provide increased stability and speed. The chassis’ Tuned Flex Technology provides significant handling gains by responding precisely to changes in the terrain without sacrificing balance and grip. Steel chassis droop stops have also been added to ensure consistent down stop settings.

The 8IGHT 2.0 includes updated steering geometry which features a servo saver with increased consistency. Additional gains in steering precision were made by incorporating a pressed-steel bushing in the Ackerman brace, which reduces friction over the entire range of motion. The suspension on the 8IGHT 2.0 allows for customization with numerous shock mounting locations, two camber link positions on the front carrier and four on the rear.

A revised radio tray on the 8IGHT 2.0 optimizes the position of the servos, while increasing response time and reducing stress on the throttle servo. The Sure-Close fuel tank ensures positive closure and prevents air from entering the fuel system.

The 8IGHT 2.0 features high-quality 7075 aluminum shock towers that reduce weight for improved on-track performance without sacrificing handling or strength. The dogbones and outdrives of the 8IGHT 2.0 feature improved steel materials to withstand the abuse of competitive racing. The rear hub design incorporates an updated inner camber link, a revised shock tower and simplified camber locations and the durability of 3.5mm outer rear hinge pins.

The rear gear box on the 8IGHT 2.0 has the capability to shim the rear ring gear from the pinion to ensure ultra free drivetrain. Also included on the 8IGHT 2.0 is a left-side keyed insert to improve durability.

where have I seen this car before………. oh thats right at the end of my driveway in a trashcan. Losi what are you trying to do? flood the hobbyshops.

  2. Mr.b says:

So these improvements are part of the kit and not the race roller or standard RTR version of the 2.0?

  3. Trevor "Chilly" Duncan says:

The focus of this news is that the 8ight 2.0 is available as a kit vs. a Race Roller, plus it is being released under the Team Losi Racing name.

  4. SKUNKWORKS! says:

TO KEVIN K .. YOU ARE IDIOT !…. LOSI IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE BIZZ..JUST CAUSE YOU DIDN’T HAVE THE KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM ,, DONT BLAME LOSI AND TALK SMACK CAUSE YOU SOUND LIKE AND IDIOT..I HAVE BEEN RUNNING LOSI FOR YEARS .. AND WHEN I DID HAVE A PROBLEM LOSI TOOK CARE OF IT RIGHT AWAY !…PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE THE ONES THAT RUIN THIS HOBBY .. WITH YOUR BAD ATTITUDE ! ,,,, GROW UP KID! …

  5. YoMan says:

caps lock – learn to use it appropriately.

  6. proudtraxxasracer says:

I agree with Kevin K. Losi is no good, and might as throw in the towel to the most successful rc company both in car making, and winning races.

  7. Stephen Bess says:

Nice…been asking for this since the 8ight 2.0 EU kit arrived. That’s not true, I’ve wanted a 2.0 kit since the beginning. Build it yourself > RTR for race cars in my book!

  8. Anonymous says:

Is losi no longer losi what’s the deal with the name change does horizon own the name losi

    • Matthew Higgins says:

Team Losi Racing or TLR is the racing division so to speak of the Losi brand which is owned by Horizon Hobbies.

  9. atarit3 says:

so it’s kinda the NISMO or MOPAR of Losi? Kinda like Associated has “Factory team”, right?

    • Kevin K. says:

not the same thing, TLR is no different then Team losi. Factory team IMPROVES upon Team Associateds design. TLR doesn’t do that.

      • Matthew Higgins says:

You are correct. NISMO, MOPAR, and in RC, Team Associated are sub brands and specifically non-aftermarket hop-up components. Team Losi Racing or TLR is different–it is the racing division of Losi. It’s just nomenclature or semantics.

These kits belong under the TLR name because they are just that–kits. It’s pretty safe to say that all TLR stuff will be kits.

If you don’t care, that’s fine, but plenty of racers do.

  10. Kyle says:

@proudtraxxasracer If you think traxxas is better you obviously dont race you just bash!

    • proudtraxxasracer says:

oh no I race my traxxas trucks and very often podium where I live. Just because my profile is proudtraxxasracer doesn’t mean I’m a basher, I always race my slash 4×4. however, I don’t own a losi, I’ve got something better.

      • VWVR6_T says:

Why are you here? MMM! that’s right to bash or interested in LOSI. I never understand why we have so many people like you in this hobby, yes like you, HATERS!! 3 times champ and counting, no need to buy a kit every year, a few upgrades and you’re done back to battle. That’s what keep people coming back. btw for those so concern about the name? TLR look better in the side of your lid, lol.

Can’t wait to kick some Traxxas Ass in the track. LMAO…
