Latest race news from Team Associated:

For the second year in a row, Team Associated’s Ryan Maifield made the trip just outside of Minneapolis, MN to the R/C X-Fest. With a great base of local racers and support from a few of the top pros, the event continues to grow in prestige while staying true to its roots of being a laid-back event.

In 2009 Maifield attended the event for the first time and was blown away by the huge wooden jump and gnarly roughness of the surface. This year, he was more prepared—and took home the double wins with his Factory Team RC8B and RC8Be buggies. Ryan used his Reedy 121 VR engine along with JConcepts tires, Sidewinder fuel, and Airtronics transmitter and servos to lead every lap of the 45-minute A-Main event.

In the electric class it was again Maifield who took the win ahead of the “Old Man”—teammate Marshall Skare. Both Ryan and Marshall used the LRP SPX8 brushless system and Reedy batteries to take on the huge 50+ second lap time track for the challenging 10-minute final.

When asked why he likes attending events like this, Maifield said, “It’s cool to hang out after the races with the locals and sportsman drivers who support the product and sport. We really get to hear their wants and needs and help them more than at other events.”

Look for Ryan at the gas tracks as he continues to prepare for the IFMAR 1:8 World Championships later this year in Pattaya City, Thailand.
