Kenny Ferris ROAR Stock Nats Champion

Kenny Ferris ROAR Stock Nats Champion

Latest race news from Tekin:

The off-road Nationals were run from the 19th through the 22nd of August in Joliet, Illinois at Leisure Hours R/C Raceway.

The Nationals were once again being run on control tires for all of the stock classes. The majority of the Mod/Open classes were running a gentlemen’s agreement “spec” tire to help keep costs down for the major race teams. This has worked well in the past and it did again this year.

Tekin team driver Kenny Ferris was on a mission this year. Kenny was able to lay down some of the fastest lap times in the Stock Buggy class. Kenny Tq’d the Stock Buggy class overall using his Tekin powered Tq buggy. Kenny was running the setup below:

Team Driver Brian Sullivan also managed to Tq the exhibition class of 4wd SCT. Brian also had some of the fastest laps in practice and qualifying. Brian locked up the overall Tq running on Panther tires.

Mains day was welcomed by great weather and a well prepped track. Kenny Ferris was ready to go to work and take down his first National Title. Kenny got away clean in A1 and never looked back. Zach Rogers from Insider RC was close at times but a few costly mistakes would allow Kenny to get away. Fellow Tekin Teammate Brian Sullivan would end up 4th in A1. In A2 Kenny once again motored away with the superior power of this RS/Redline combination with Zach Rogers in close pursuit. Kenny made a few mistakes early on allowing Zach to come right up to the rear bumper but Kenny managed to keep his cool and once again Take the win securing his first National Title! Congratulations Kenny! Brian Sullivan would finish 4th overall.

Kenny was running the Tekin RS (TT1152) and Tekin Redline 17.5(TT2251) in his Tq 2wd buggy.

Brian Sullivan also got out in front early with his Tq position and ran away with A1. In A2 Brian would suffer a mechanical DNF while running hard taking the Overall to A3. Once again though Brian would get out in front and not look back taking the win in A3. Brian would take the Overall 4wd SCT class! Congratulations Brian!
