It’s Friday and I’m here at Leisure Hours R/C Raceway in Joliet, IL for the 5th Annual Byron Fuel On-Road Nitro Challenge. They will be running three classes at this event, 1/8-scale 4WD, 1/10-scale sedan and a GT spec class. Today is open practice and a number of guys were running on the track. Later in the day we got some rain so most guys were inside tuning their rigs for the qualifiers tomorrow. Leisure Hours R/C Raceway is one of the nicest on-road tracks I’ve ever seen, I can’t wait for qualifying tomorrow. The weather for the weekend is supposed to be sunny and in the mid seventies. – Brandon

Update from the track. Qualifying is well under way and the track has a ton of traction. Right after they sprayed the track with grape soda cars were slipping for a bit but with a little time and guys running on the track it’s now perfect. There are a total of fifty five entrees and there are seven heats of qualifying, with each class running three qualifiers. First and second place from all the B mains will bump into the A main. The weather here is beautiful and there is nothing but sun. The cars are making some pretty fast laps, go check out the pictures and video! – Brandon
