I just received XTM Racing’s new Rage 1/18-scale stadium truck, and I’m impressed! This little truck might just be the best 1/18-scale micro truck in my stable. With a wheelbase of 160mm and a width of 198mm, it has a larger footprint than most 1/18-scale machines. The larger footprint should make this little truck ultra-stable, and with 8 oil-filled shocks and a shaft drive 4WD system it sure to get plenty of grip at the track and handle rough terrain like a bigger truck. The Rage features a composite semi-tub chassis with a fiberglass upper deck that gives it class-leading rigidity. It has a double arm suspension system with steel turnbuckles throughout to adjust front and rear camber and front and rear toe-in/out. It arrives factory assembled and it includes a Cirrus 2-channel radio system, and high-torque mini servo (larger than the micro servos included with many micro machines). It also has an electronic speed control, 370 motor – although it’s the size of a typical speed 400 motor – and an 1100 mAh Ni-MH battery pack and wall charger. Beefy front and rear bumpers look like they do a great job of protecting the chassis, and the mounted pin-spike tires with foam inserts are sure to provide plenty of grip because they’re taller and wider than the tires on most micro machines. And then there’s the body, which is completed painted and trimmed and has clear windows to give it a factory finish. The body has a separate wing and it even has rear ground effects to give it a custom look. XTM Racing did a fine job designing their new micro machine and I can’t wait to hit the track with it. Look for a complete Behind the Wheel test in the may issue. In the mean time check out these photos; I’m sure that you’ll agree that it looks like a dialed machine.
