Jato Killer

This is Marcus Bazzano’s tricked-out Traxxas Rustler. He just completed installing a O.S. 21 VZ-R Turbo engine with a THS Racing 1/8-scale tuned pipe which he tells us took some custom work and a lot of grinding to get it to work in the truck. The chassis is decked out with carbon fiber including the shock towers, top and bottom...

Keeping with the sports theme

Keeping with the sports theme, I decided to post Eric Schneider’s Lakerfied Traxxas Revo. The Pro-Line Crowd Pleazer body was painted by our awesome painter Bill Zegers of Zegers RC Graffixx (Click here for Zegers' website) with a L.A. Lakers paint scheme. Eric has also tricked out the...

Diehard Celtics Fan

Zach Finley is a diehard Boston Celtics fan, especially of #5, Kevin Garnett who he went to High School with. The Protoform Mazda 6 body was painted in Celtics colors as a tribute to Kevin. Underneath sits an Associated TC5 which is normally setup with a Castle Creations Mamba Max 7700 brushless motor and ESC. A Spektrum...

The Tamiya F201 was a cool car
The Tamiya F201 was such a cool car. I love open wheel race cars and previous RC versions just did not handle very well. Tamiya’s F201 changed all that because the were able to incorporate 4WD into the chassis and still kept the cool F1 appearance intact.

Full-size Honda painted like RC car

Brett from New Plymouth, New Zealand has his full-size Honda Accord painted just like his RC rides. Yes this is over the top, but Brett has a pretty good excuse—he uses the Honda to promote his RC company named RC Bandit.

about me

Bio:

Some of my earliest childhood memories have to do with radio control. In fact, there is a picture of me at age 3 running one of my Dad's boats. I basically grew up surrounded with cool RC vehicles thanks to my father, James and two older brothers Jim and Dave. We owned two Heathkit Spectre nitro on-road cars that we ran at a parking lot near our home. I'll never forget how we had to start the engines. We would take a bicycle, turn it upside down and rest it on its handlebars so we can crank the pedals by hand and then when the tire on the bike was humming we would touch the tire from the RC car onto the bike tire and the engine would fire--at least most of the time. Nitro and electric boats were also big in our house and we had a few nitro-powered hydros and monohulls, a scratch built tugboat that my father still has today and a couple of Chris Crafts' one runabout and one cabin cruiser. When we were not running the boats and cars, airplanes were the thing--just too many to list. By the time I was 11, I bought my very first hobby grade RC car--a Tamiya Super Champ. That was the first kit I ever built and my first introduction to that unique smell of Tamiya blue liquid thread lock; I love that smell. From then on my focus became mostly cars and trucks, and I continued to add them to my RC garage.

As a teenager, I discovered Radio Control Car Action magazine and poured over every issue and dreamt of having one of my cars featured in "Readers' Rides." In the July 1993 issue, that dream came true and little did I know what it would lead to in the future. I had sent a ton of photographs, and the Group Editor-in-Chief asked if I was interested in writing for the magazine as a contributing author. I was clearly caught off guard, but I jumped at the chance and had my first article appear in the March 1994 issue with the review of the Tamiya Terra Conqueror. I worked as a contributor for the next few years and was offered a full time job as an assistant editor in January 2002. Along with working on the monthly issues of Radio Control Car Action, I am the editor in charge of our special issues like the Radio Control Car Action Buyers' Guide and Radio Control Monster Trucks. I just love everything RC and I still get excited every time a new product arrives at the office; it never gets old for me.
